Checked September 25, 2026. “UK Super Priority Visa” is not a separate visa category. It is an optional faster-decision service for an eligible visa or settlement application. When offered, it costs £1,000 per applicant on top of the normal application fee, and the Home Office says a decision will usually arrive by the end of the next working day after the relevant identity step. It does not change eligibility, improve approval chances or guarantee a decision on that date. The UK government’s faster-decision guide sets out the current service.
First check the visa route—not the speed option
An applicant must still meet the requirements of the underlying route, such as Standard Visitor, Skilled Worker, Student or an eligible family or settlement route. Paying £1,000 cannot repair missing sponsorship, weak evidence or an incorrect visa choice. Some categories are not offered super priority at all; citizenship applications, for example, cannot use this service. Availability also depends on the application location, identity-verification method and current capacity. If the faster option does not appear in the official application journey, do not assume an agent can add it later.
For applications made inside the UK, the government publishes a route-by-route table. It shows, for example, super priority as an option for main-applicant Skilled Worker and Student applications with qualifying identity methods, subject to availability. But the same table treats some settlement and dependant applications differently. Read the official in-country eligibility table for your precise route rather than relying on a generic “all UK visas” claim. For an in-country application you must also have permission to be in the UK.
When does the next-working-day clock start?
The target is not normally measured from the moment you start filling in the online form. If you prove identity in person, the usual target is the end of the next working day after your appointment when it falls on a weekday; a weekend or bank-holiday appointment normally means two working days. If the application allows the UK Immigration: ID Check app, the relevant event is completing the document upload, with similar weekday versus weekend treatment. The official application flow tells you which identity method applies.
Example: a qualifying applicant attends an identity appointment on a Tuesday. A decision is usually expected by the end of Wednesday, assuming Wednesday is a working day and no extra checks are needed. This is an illustration of the published service target, not a promise that the visa will be granted or that a passport will be ready for collection on Wednesday. Travel-document return and travel planning are separate practical issues.
How much does a family pay?
The £1,000 is an additional fee per person. If an eligible main applicant and one dependant both select super priority, that means £2,000 for the faster service alone, plus each person’s applicable visa application fee and any healthcare surcharge. A family of four would pay £4,000 for the faster option if all four are eligible and select it. Do not mistake this add-on for the complete immigration bill. Our UK visa fees comparison separates application fees, healthcare charges and money an applicant may only need to show.
Priority or super priority?
The ordinary priority service costs an additional £500 where available and usually aims for a decision within five working days for most eligible visa and settlement applications. Super priority is the £1,000 next-working-day option. Some categories have different priority targets: an overseas family visa may have a longer priority timeframe, and citizenship can use priority in certain cases but not super priority. Choose only after checking the specific route shown by the official online application.
Does paying extra guarantee approval or a refund?
No. The evidence and legal requirements are the same as for standard processing. UKVI may need more documents or checks with another government department, causing a longer wait. A refusal does not make the super-priority fee refundable. Nor is a refund automatic merely because the target was missed; circumstances such as further evidence requests or a technical problem are assessed under the government’s refund rules. Read those rules through the official faster-decision guide before buying the service.
Practical decision checklist
Before paying, confirm your route is correct, your evidence is complete, the official application offers super priority for your location and identity method, and your deadline actually benefits from a faster decision. Check the total for every family member. Avoid making a non-refundable flight or course commitment solely on the next-working-day target. If an application is already submitted, do not assume it can simply be upgraded or create a duplicate application without checking the official options. This independent guide explains the service; it is not a guarantee of timing, approval or admission to the UK.
