Do you need a visa for Morocco?
There is no single answer for every traveller. Start with these questions:

- If neither applies, which Moroccan diplomatic mission handles your place of residence?
- Does your purpose require a tourist, business, student, work or another visa category?

Types of Moroccan entry visas
Morocco’s consular information describes four broad types of entry visa:
- Short-validity visa: for one or more short stays, generally from one to 90 days per stay.
- Long-validity visa: a multiple-entry visa with validity that can extend beyond three months, subject to the decision of the authorities.
- Transit visa: for eligible travellers passing through Morocco.
- Visa issued at the border: an exceptional category handled by the competent authorities.
Ordinary visa purposes include tourism, business, work, study, research, family reunification and other approved activities. Choose the category matching your real purpose; a tourist permission does not automatically authorise employment or long-term study.
Morocco eVisa basics
Morocco operates an official electronic-visa system through Access Maroc. The published general conditions state that an eVisa can be valid for up to 180 days from issue, permits a single entry and allows a stay of up to 30 days. Published processing targets are 24 Moroccan working hours for an express application and 72 working hours for a standard application.
Those are processing targets, not a promise that every case will be approved within that time. Apply early enough to answer requests for additional information and do not use websites that imitate the government portal.
Documents commonly requested
The exact checklist depends on nationality, residence and visa category. A consulate may request:
- a valid passport and copies of its identity pages;
- a completed application and compliant passport photographs;
- proof of legal residence where the application is submitted;
- accommodation or an invitation from a host;
- a travel itinerary or return/onward reservation;
- proof of funds and employment or student status;
- travel insurance;
- documents explaining the purpose of the visit; and
- parental consent and supporting records for some minors.

Passport validity and border checks
Moroccan law requires a passport or other travel document recognised by Morocco. Individual consular missions may publish additional validity expectations for applicants. Confirm the exact passport-validity rule for your application and travel dates before applying.
A visa or eVisa does not create an unconditional right of entry. Border officials may check the purpose of travel, accommodation, sufficient funds and plans to leave the country. Carry copies of the evidence used for the application.
Student and work travellers
Admission to a school or a job offer does not by itself replace immigration permission. Students should confirm admission, funding, visa category and any post-arrival registration requirement. Workers should verify that the employer and proposed activity meet Moroccan employment and immigration rules before travelling.
