Saudi Tourist eVisa Requirements: Check Eligibility Before You Pay

Official sources checked September 25, 2026. Saudi Arabia’s tourist eVisa is an online route for eligible visitors. The first check is the passport nationality and current eligibility shown on the Ministry of Tourism’s portal; living in an eligible country does not by itself make another passport eligible under the ordinary nationality-based route. The eVisa is for permitted tourism and certain visits, not paid work or Hajj.

Use the official eligibility check

The official Saudi eVisa portal publishes its eligible-nationality list and online application route. It is operated by the Saudi Ministry of Tourism, as the portal’s terms explain. Check your exact passport country there before uploading documents or paying a third-party service. Other visa pathways may exist for some travellers who are not eligible through this eVisa route, but they have separate conditions; an unsuccessful nationality check does not establish eligibility for another route.

An applicant using this route needs a passport from an eligible country with at least six months remaining from the intended entry date. A minor cannot independently use the service; an authorised adult may apply on the minor’s behalf under its terms. Use the passport you intend to present at the Saudi border, and enter names and numbers exactly. A valid email address matters because an approved eVisa is sent as an attachment.

What the tourist eVisa permits

The official terms describe a visa usually valid for one year, normally for multiple entries unless the particular eVisa says otherwise, with a maximum stay of three months. Read the issued visa itself: its conditions control the trip. The tourist eVisa can cover tourism and Umrah where permitted, but it is not a Hajj visa and does not authorise paid employment or study. Religious travel restrictions can change with the season, so verify current entry and location rules before booking an Umrah trip near Hajj.

A one-year visa validity does not mean a one-year stay. For example, a traveller might make more than one short visit while the visa remains valid, but each stay must remain within the permission printed on the visa and applicable rules. If the eVisa expires before travel, the portal terms say a new application and fee are needed. Do not assume an expired eVisa can simply be extended.

Application and payment checklist

  1. Confirm nationality eligibility and passport validity on the Ministry of Tourism portal.
  2. Prepare accurate personal and passport details, an accessible email address and any photo or information requested by the current form.
  3. Read the application and fee display before payment; the charge can change and may include applicable taxes.
  4. Check the emailed decision and every detail on the issued eVisa.
  5. Travel with the same passport used in the application and keep a copy of the eVisa available.

The Ministry of Tourism’s eVisa terms state that an application cannot be cancelled for a refund after submission and that payment does not guarantee approval. They also make clear that holding an eVisa does not guarantee entry: an immigration officer assesses the traveller on arrival. Do not rely on a seller promising a guaranteed Saudi visa or an instant approval time.

Three common wrong assumptions

“I reside in an eligible country, so I qualify.” The ordinary eVisa list is based on citizenship/passport; residence alone is not the same test. “The visa lasts a year, so I can stay a year.” Validity and permitted stay are different. “Tourist visa includes Hajj or employment.” Those purposes require different permission. Checking these distinctions before payment can prevent a costly wrong application.

Finally, confirm any health, insurance, airline and local entry requirements that apply to your actual trip. Keep the application email and travel documents secure, and never share full passport or payment information in a public comment or with an unverified intermediary.
